The present study investigates the relationship between screen media use in the household and listening text comprehension in 3- to 6-year-old Italian children. A standardized listening comprehension task and quantitative and qualitative measures of children’s screen media use were collected. Linear mixed models showed that children’s listening text comprehension was negatively associated to children’s solitary use of screens and positively associated to the frequency with which parents regulate children’s screen use, over and above several control variables.
