This paper describes a joint project between Cambridge University Press (CUP) and the Italian Ministry of Education (CRUI) which aimed to produce a complete B1 level course for undergraduate language learners. The course aimed to create autonomous learners and also to provide a course that could be accessed freely with no geographical constraints making it particularly suitable for mobility students as well as aiming to form a language basis of a B1 level which can then be built on to create mobile adults who are able to participate in a range of professional and social activities.
