The aim of this work is to study the Italian airport system. In particular, we will use symbolic data analysis to compare and evaluate the different airport systems over the period 2007-2017. The analysis highlights the existence of a single community that has the Rome-Fiumicino airport as its center. The symbolic data analysis also allows to compare the evolution of the North Center and South and shows a high differentiation between the various zones over time, which specifically confirms an infrastructural underprovision in the South.
