In recent years, following the emanation of Legislative Decree 81/08, more interest has emerged regarding the topic of work-related stress and the psychosocial risks associated with it. Many studies highlight the harmful effects of work stress on the health and wellbeing of individuals and organisations as well. Specifically, several studies carried out in various countries examined the topic of stress in the academic field too. This work aims to carry out a theoretical review on this topic. Starting from studies in current literature, the paper intends to offer an overview of the many studies carried out at a national and international level, with a focus on the antecedents and on the outcomes of work-related stress.

Abstract
