H. Keil published in GL IV, under the title Explanationes in Donatum, two commentaries on Donatus Ars minor and Ars maior. The analysis of the structure of the commentaries and their choice of literary quotations shows two different approaches: first commentary, probably written in the middle of V century, was composed under a strong influence of Servius. The second, later (perhaps VI century), is a compilation including excerpts from different texts, sometimes of an elementary level, sometimes more learned.
