The paper presents a casestudy of a business network created among different firms in a supply chain in the bio-based economy; it describes how the business network contract drafted within the Italian regulation has contributed to cooperation among participants in order to create sustainable innovation and new business models. The aim of the network was to study the most efficient way to use agricultural by-products in the green chemistry, bio-diesel and bio-gas industries in order to share an adequate value within all the supply chain.
