Fyodor Dostoevsky’s “Khozyayka”: Translating the Title as a Hermeneutical Act. This es-say is about the role a title can play in the interpretation of a literary work when translated into other languages. In particular, we consider the case of Dostoevsky’s early tale Kho-zyayka, in which the semantics of this word can bring to different choices at the moment of its translation into Italian, Spanish, French, and other languages. Different choices mean also different expectations for the reader, and every choice can either help him to approach some levels of interpretation which are present in the original text, or prevent him from achieving them.

Abstract
Fyodor Dostoevsky’s “Khozyayka”: Translating the Title as a Hermeneutical Act. This es-say is about the role a title can play in the interpretation of a literary work when translated into other languages. In particular, we consider the case of Dostoevsky’s early tale Kho-zyayka, in which the semantics of this word can bring to different choices at the moment of its translation into Italian, Spanish, French, and other languages. Different choices mean also different expectations for the reader, and every choice can either help him to approach some levels of interpretation which are present in the original text, or prevent him from achieving them.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
