2 bronze slabs were discovered in Augstan age layers in Halaesa, Sicily. They are inscribed with a decree of an assembly of 815 priests of Apollo, who met there. Such an unconventional assembly (koinon=league) is explained within the Augustan ideology and cults to Apollo. In the imperial age a synodos of Apollonian priests is known, but it was limited to central and southern Italy, whereas the koinon was including the whole of the Empire.

Abstract
2 bronze slabs were discovered in Augstan age layers in Halaesa, Sicily. They are inscribed with a decree of an assembly of 815 priests of Apollo, who met there. Such an unconventional assembly (koinon=league) is explained within the Augustan ideology and cults to Apollo. In the imperial age a synodos of Apollonian priests is known, but it was limited to central and southern Italy, whereas the koinon was including the whole of the Empire.File in questo prodotto:
