The aim of this study is to contribute to the Italian adaptation of the Mindful Awareness Attention Scale (MAAS), a questionnaire used to assess present attention and awareness. The scale validity was tested on 255 firefighters because a study of mindfulness among them was considered particularly useful. Internal structure of the measure was investigated through explorative and confirmatory factor analyses. In addition, external validity and reliability of the scale were examined. Results show good psychometric properties of the Italian version of the MAAS. It is concluded that the scale can be used for the assessment of the mindfulness in Italian contexts, particularly in the helping professions.

Abstract
The aim of this study is to contribute to the Italian adaptation of the Mindful Awareness Attention Scale (MAAS), a questionnaire used to assess present attention and awareness. The scale validity was tested on 255 firefighters because a study of mindfulness among them was considered particularly useful. Internal structure of the measure was investigated through explorative and confirmatory factor analyses. In addition, external validity and reliability of the scale were examined. Results show good psychometric properties of the Italian version of the MAAS. It is concluded that the scale can be used for the assessment of the mindfulness in Italian contexts, particularly in the helping professions.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
