This is the preliminary study of a larger longitudinal analysis on speech perception in Italian infants. This study involved 30 monolingual Italian infants. Eleven bisyllabic words were developed: two lists of familiar words and two lists of rare words. Results revealed that Italian infants are abel to distinguish familiar form rare words at 11 months of age.
