Parameters coming from Elliptic Fourier Analysis (EFA) and fractal analysis of the leaf, were used as input in a backpropagation neural network to distinguish between 10 accessions of grapevine (8 clones of Sangiovese and 2 cultivars: Abrostine and Pugnitello). The results enabled us to identify all the accessions studied. Cluster analysis of the backpropagation outputs revealed the existence of a uniform group for the Tebano clones supporting the hypotesis that SG-12T, SG 14T and SG 19T could be mutations originated from the same seedling. The use of neural network coupled to new tools in the shape analysis of leaves opens interesting prospect for ampelography.

Abstract
Parameters coming from Elliptic Fourier Analysis (EFA) and fractal analysis of the leaf, were used as input in a backpropagation neural network to distinguish between 10 accessions of grapevine (8 clones of Sangiovese and 2 cultivars: Abrostine and Pugnitello). The results enabled us to identify all the accessions studied. Cluster analysis of the backpropagation outputs revealed the existence of a uniform group for the Tebano clones supporting the hypotesis that SG-12T, SG 14T and SG 19T could be mutations originated from the same seedling. The use of neural network coupled to new tools in the shape analysis of leaves opens interesting prospect for ampelography.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
