DISH, also known as Forestier’s disease, is a clinicalradiologicalentity characterized by calcification andossification of entheseal sites and usually diagnosedonly on radiographic grounds. DISH is common inelderly adults, especially in men, often in associationwith insulin resistance conditions like diabetes and metabolicsyndrome, leading in turn to an increased cardiovascularrisk. Oropharyngeal dysphagia is themost frequent symptom in patients with DISH localizedto the cervical spine. Therefore, this diagnosisshould be suspected in specific clinical settings, such asold males with metabolic disorders and with otherwiseunexplained dysphagia.
