Practitioners handling with foster youth in residential homes, provide social workers with systematic assessment of youth's attitudes and behavior. This article provides clear evidence of the development of an observation grid for systematic assessment and recording of children’s behavior as final result of a three years long supervision of 120 practitioners in foster youth’s residential homes . The software implemented tool was introduced and its multipurpose aspects discussed. The observation protocol applied by practitioners reveals itself as an extremely powerful tool in order to evaluate each introduced educative intervention. Moreover it enables practitioners to clearly identify children’s reaction and response to each intervention. The tool allows an easy data collection and recovery procedure at any moment in time during the whole period of children’s foster care placement. It eventually provides an exhaustive up to date report of each child.
