The aim of the present study was to examine the relationship between child-directed language and social referencing by analyzing Italian mother-father-child interactions. Sixteen families were longitudinally observed and video-recorded with children at the ages of 17 and 24 months during free-play and laboratory sessions. Data analysis showed a relation between both parents' child-directed language, child's language development and behaviour regulation.
