Purpose - The aim of this paper is to ponder on the current meaning of management training through an analysis that briefly illustrates its conceptual and functional evolution. This paper holds in consideration the new formative needs that companies express and the requirements to experiment with innovative techniques and ways of training. Methodological approach - The learning of theoretic and practical models to update and fill professional gaps in technical and organizing circles has been replaced by a course to improve the culture and relationship among persons. In this field, "the subject to be trained" is becoming an active protagonist which is willing to learn, observe and compare himself with the others according to the principles of emotional intelligence. As a consequence the top management's attention towards a person's improvement is changing into a priority also because challenges and complexities of a company are stimulating it. The paper will show that in the structure of recent character-building systems, the purpose is not to influence upon the type of knowledge that has to be passed on, but upon the ways of diffusing it. Art such as cinema, theater, narration, poetry and music is taken as inspiration to encourage the learning of remarkable, emotional effects and especially to interact with different expressive forms. Findings - We will carry into effect a critical classification of the means that can integrate those usually adopted in the traditional class-room teaching, thus promoting a wider involvement of the participants based on their experience and creativity. Particularly we will try to understand the potential and the limits of the already considered formative approaches, starting from the assumption that training the modern manager means to help him examine and understand the world in which he daily works. Practical implication - The analysis that has been carried out will be able to support business managers in choosing the most suitable forming techniques directed to the development of relational abilities.

Abstract
Practical implication - The analysis that has been carried out will be able to support business managers in choosing the most suitable forming techniques directed to the development of relational abilities.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
