Abstract

The purpose of this paper is the analysis of the correlations between the competitive advantage, associated with the improvement of the decision-making process, and the knowledge management through Enterprise Content Management platforms. With this contribution therefore we wish to expand the literature on Knowledge Management, and in particular on the relationship existing between Knowledge Management Systems, Enterprise Content Management Systems and decision making processes. The potential of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) systems consists in their ability to process huge data quantity, providing end-users or Decision Support Systems (DSS) with all the information useful for decisional purposes. In the case analyze, decision-makers achieve the best performance not only improving the quantity and quality of the input information of the decisional process but also thanks to a better formalization of the knowledge included in all phases of the process.
