Abstract

This research, starting from the assumption that the development of hotel chains may contribute to improvement of Italy in the world ranking, analyzes the reasons at the basis of the scarce diffusion of those management formulas (franchising and contracting out) which elsewhere originated of the explosion of the international chains. The analysis will lead to suggest some actions aimed at transforming the above-mentioned critical aspects into possibilities of growth for the hotel sector and consequently for the whole Italian tourism system.
