Mitochondria transferred at nuclear transplantation with the GV karyoplasts did not show any preferential localization within the ooplasm of the reconstituted oocyte. Throughout their maturational progression, these “constructed” oocytes displayed a pattern of mitochondrial distribution corresponding to control intact cells at a comparable stage, though the dye signal intensity was lower because of the relatively small number of mitochondria transferred during this procedure.
