Conceptual modeling of XML data

In this paper, we propose a conceptual model for buildingschemata for XML documents. In particular, we define theconceptual model UXS (UML & XML Schema), which is based onUML and provides several graphical constructs to help theprogrammer to define complex XML schemata. The model iscompleted by the support of several translation approachesfor building the XML Schema code, corresponding to thedefined conceptual schema.A prototype has been developed, and allows the conceptualdefinition of XML schemata by using the introducedapproach.
