A Corpus-Integrated Approach to Translation: the Example of the Italian Parallel Corpus within the NKRJa

Scope of this essay is to illustrate possible applications of ICT in translation's work; after a brief introduction on Corpus Linguistics (CL), our attention will in particular focus on the importance of using corpora for translation purposes, especially when it is necessary to transfer the meaning of words typical of a given language (LI) - the so-called realia - into a target one (L2), missing equivalents in the L2 culture. We will go through some examples taken from the IPC (Italian Parallel Corpus) of the NKRJa (Nacional'nyj Korpus Russkogo Jazyka), as a fundamental tool for language and literary studies in the field of Italian Slavistics.
