This study investigates how sustainability planning addresses tensions in integrating corporate sustainability with “usual” business strategy. Data collected from semi-structured interviews with 12 Italian firms across various sectors were analysed. The research highlights key tensions faced during the integration process, organisational changes, and the role of sustainability planning as a strategic tool. Insights are provided for managers and policymakers aiming to foster effective integration of sustainability principles into business strategies.
