More than 30 years after the last census of the finds of soapstone in Emilia-Romagna, I decided to update the diffusion map produced at the time for what concerns the central-western Emilia (provinces of Modena, Reggio Emilia, Parma, and Piacenza), through the new data available. Despite the partiality of the information found, the research has allowed the increase from 19 mentions in 1987 to 148 in 2022. Based on these data, I propose a comprehensive reading regarding the spread of this alpine product in the Emilia region.

Abstract
