This cross-sectional study investigated knowledge, information sources, and awareness of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) among students at the University of Verona, Italy. Conducted between December 2020 and January 2021, the survey revealed insufficient knowledge about STD transmission—especially non-sexual routes—and carcinogenic viruses. While students primarily used the internet for information, they preferred consulting specialists when concerned. Notable gender differences were observed, with female students showing greater awareness of the link between HPV and cancer. The findings suggest current educational strategies are inadequate, highlighting the need to enhance STD-related health education in academic settings.
