An outbreak of New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase (NDM)-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae occurred in the Hematology Unit of an Italian teaching hospital. The index case was a colonized Ukrainian patient admitted in August 2022, followed by three additional cases with identical strains. A multidisciplinary team implemented a comprehensive response including patient isolation, routine screening, environmental disinfection, and reinforced infection prevention and control (IPC) practices. No further cases emerged after these interventions. The outbreak was likely due to contact transmission via shared caregivers. The successful containment highlights the importance of rapid action and ongoing IPC training.

Abstract
The successful containment highlights the importance of rapid action and ongoing IPC training.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
