In the National Archaeological Museum of Florence there are four bronze instruments for measuring liquids (mensurae liquariae) still unpublished. All these containers are inscribed: two mention the emperor Commodus, the third shows the name of Hadrian, while the fourth has the name of the emperor currently unreadable due to the poor state of conservation. In this paper, through a systematic analysis of the documentation, some problems related to this little-known class of the instrumentum inscriptum will be presented and developed.

Abstract
In the National Archaeological Museum of Florence there are four bronze instruments for measuring liquids (mensurae liquariae) still unpublished. All these containers are inscribed: two mention the emperor Commodus, the third shows the name of Hadrian, while the fourth has the name of the emperor currently unreadable due to the poor state of conservation. In this paper, through a systematic analysis of the documentation, some problems related to this little-known class of the instrumentum inscriptum will be presented and developed.File in questo prodotto:
