Like all major transformations, the digital transition and Artificial Intelligence require strategies to bring about positive changes. The paper examines opportunities, challenges, and strategies for human rights in the digital era. The author argues that while the main challenge is accessibility to new technologies for all, there is no need for a new Charter of Human Rights in the Digital Realm or a Bill of Rights on Artificial Intelligence. Traditional tools for the implementation of human rights, however, are ill-equipped to deal with the digital realm. New creative solutions are needed to (re)join human rights to other domains of global governance, such as peace and security, economic cooperation, and development, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.

Abstract
Like all major transformations, the digital transition and Artificial Intelligence require strategies to bring about positive changes. The paper examines opportunities, challenges, and strategies for human rights in the digital era. The author argues that while the main challenge is accessibility to new technologies for all, there is no need for a new Charter of Human Rights in the Digital Realm or a Bill of Rights on Artificial Intelligence. Traditional tools for the implementation of human rights, however, are ill-equipped to deal with the digital realm. New creative solutions are needed to (re)join human rights to other domains of global governance, such as peace and security, economic cooperation, and development, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
