The outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine has given a decisive impetus to multilateral cooperation and the (search for) international justice. In this context, the European Union aspires to assume a leadership role, presenting itself as a guide ready to coordinate efforts towards the emergence of the truth and the fight against serious crimes. This Article reflects on the Union’s contribution to international justice. To this end, it is divided into three parts: the first examines the “constitutional” basis which pushes the Union towards multilateralism and international cooperation based on the discipline of the treaties; the second explores the relationship between the EU and the International Court of Justice, while the third one that with the International Criminal Court. For both of these jurisdictional fora the focus will be, on the one hand and more generally, on the contribution of the EU to their functioning; on the other hand and more specifically, on the recent involvement of the Union in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. Finally, some concluding considerations will be made regarding the role that the Union can aspire to assume in the field of international justice.

Abstract
Finally, some concluding considerations will be made regarding the role that the Union can aspire to assume in the field of international justice.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
