This paper explores processes of negotiation of urban space and heritage in a tourist city, assuming the perspective of the local community and the young city dwellers in particular. Engaging with children's and youth geographies, tourist studies and critical urban theory, this intervention sheds light on the tensions, opportunities, discourses and practices that constitute the urban heritage as experienced by young people in their everyday urban interactions with tourism.
