In the evolving ‘digital era’, the needs and benefits that may lead to a digital transformation in B2B networks can be differently addressed. The paper investigates in practice, though an exploratory case study research approach, how Italian fashion companies configure their supply chain e-business models, particularly the e-commerce networks. For this scope, a longitudinal analysis was conducted in the period of 2011-2019, involving four companies with 27 interviews. The paper explores how relationships, capabilities, and knowledge contribute to the configuration and evolution of e-business models. The study particularly highlighted (1) the antecedents for e-supply chain configuration; (2) the e-supply chain configuration dimensions; (3) the e-business model activation of knowledge and capability base; and (4) alternative paths of evolution.

Abstract
In the evolving ‘digital era’, the needs and benefits that may lead to a digital transformation in B2B networks can be differently addressed. The paper investigates in practice, though an exploratory case study research approach, how Italian fashion companies configure their supply chain e-business models, particularly the e-commerce networks. For this scope, a longitudinal analysis was conducted in the period of 2011-2019, involving four companies with 27 interviews. The paper explores how relationships, capabilities, and knowledge contribute to the configuration and evolution of e-business models. The study particularly highlighted (1) the antecedents for e-supply chain configuration; (2) the e-supply chain configuration dimensions; (3) the e-business model activation of knowledge and capability base; and (4) alternative paths of evolution.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
