The present paper approaches problem of textual syntax in non-literary texts, in particular in figurative texts, like comics and graphic novels. The problems analyzed concern a kind of textuality which is mediated through textuality. In a recent paper, A. Manco (2017) introduces a number of technical terms for related concepts that try to assess a metalinguistic vacuum. In so doing he exemplifies in particular the concept of “pertesto” (pertext) using instances taken from graphic novels. The present paper investigates the textual potential of the pertext, analysing the syntactic textual function that the reader may find in graphic novels like the Italian Rat-Man Collection. Earlier unused pages of the graphic novel are inserted into a single new story and are linked using pertexts, which evidently acquire anaphoric / proleptic functions. The paper offers a scheme into which the nature of the pertext and the nature of the foric relations are put together. The final hypothesis states that pertexts have great potentials, not only as anaphors in general, but also as associative anaphors, perphaps analogous to pronominal ones in hunan languages.

Abstract
The final hypothesis states that pertexts have great potentials, not only as anaphors in general, but also as associative anaphors, perphaps analogous to pronominal ones in hunan languages.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
