This chapter provides a detailed approach to raising awareness of collocations for learners who are writing academic language. Writing in English requires learners to develop an awareness of appropriate collocations, which includes an awareness of ones that are frequently used. The present lesson starts relies on texts that learners have previously read or are working on in class. Learners are introduced to Word and Phrase interface to the Corpus of Contemporary American English (COCA), which they can use to extend their knowledge of common collocations
