The article addresses the issue of the interweaving between prophecy, astrology and the political discussion, in particular at the «popular» level. The case study is represented by Venice between the 17th and 18th centuries, a period marked by great attention towards the political discussion. The archival material, coming especially from the funds of the Inquisitors of State and of the Inquisition, offers the chance to consider from another perspective the intersections between astrology, prophecy, politics and the religious dissent.
