In this paper we describe the dynamics of certain rational maps of the form $k \cdot (x+x^{-1})$ over finite fields of odd characteristic. This work extends our previous investigations on the dynamics of the map $x+x^{-1}$ over finite fields of characteristic 2, 3 and 5.

Abstract
In this paper we describe the dynamics of certain rational maps of the form $k \cdot (x+x^{-1})$ over finite fields of odd characteristic. This work extends our previous investigations on the dynamics of the map $x+x^{-1}$ over finite fields of characteristic 2, 3 and 5.
