Abstract

Cimbrian has lost the linear V2 restriction but still retains V to C movement in the root declarative context. The opposition between a symmetric (root declarative) and asymmetric (embedded) word order pattern follows from the potential combinationa of two factors: a) the different positon of the subordinating conjunction within the CP layer; b) the different positons of the finite verb.
