This paper provides a study on the effectiveness of hypnosis and electroacupuncture associated in the treatment of tension-type headache. Treatment of a headache depends on the underlying etiology or cause. Tension headache: Most patients self-treat this type of headache with OTC medications. Reductions in stress with clinical hypnosis and changes in daily living activities designed to reduce the frequency and intensity of episodes are recommended. Acupuncture is often used for tension-type headache prophylaxis, to reduce pain and muscular tension (1, 2). Electrical stimulation of acupuncture points is considered to increase acupuncture analgesia. Objectives of this work are to investigate whether clinical hypnosis and electro-acupuncture are: a) effective than no prophylactic treatment/routine care only; b) effective in reducing headache pain and frequency (headache days, pain intensity) and analgesic use, in patients with episodic or chronic tension-type headache.
