In this work, we present a contrastive and cultural analysis of a series of Spanish and Italian lexicalized metaphors which express types of human behaviour and human characteristics and include at least one name of a plant. The aim of our investigation is to emphasize first of all the importance of experiential and cultural factors in both the conceptualization of reality and in its linguistic representation; secondly, we shall attempt to detect structural, lexical and semantic correspondences as well as differences among Spanish and Italian lexicalized metaphors, thus defining different levels of equivalence between the respective phraseological systems.

Abstract
In this work, we present a contrastive and cultural analysis of a series of Spanish and Italian lexicalized metaphors which express types of human behaviour and human characteristics and include at least one name of a plant. The aim of our investigation is to emphasize first of all the importance of experiential and cultural factors in both the conceptualization of reality and in its linguistic representation; secondly, we shall attempt to detect structural, lexical and semantic correspondences as well as differences among Spanish and Italian lexicalized metaphors, thus defining different levels of equivalence between the respective phraseological systems.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
