Two series of starch-filled polyethylene films, consisting of high-density or low-density polyethylene and 0-20% starch, have been exposed for 60 days to a controlled composting environment. Evidence is reported that the oxidation of the polyethylene matrix is dependent upon the polyethylene type and content of starch.

Abstract

Two series of starch-filled polyethylene films, consisting of high-density or low-density polyethylene and 0-20% starch, have been exposed for 60 days to a controlled composting environment. Evidence is reported that the oxidation of the polyethylene matrix is dependent upon the polyethylene type and content of starch.
