Abstract

The article aims to evaluate the practical possibilities of implementation of policies of defamililisation in the society of the crisis, without introducing elements of inequality. In a time of profound changes in the welfare system, labor market and households, the defamililisation is presented as a policy unsustainable and poorly fair. Mooving from a critical reading of the thought of Esping-Andersen, stands out as there is no certainty that the virtuous circle of rise defamililisation-female employment-demand for new services is activated independently from the bottom. At the same time, the hypothesis of defamililisation through the growth of a private market services at affordable 'prices' to families is based on a reductive conception of care work, intended only as domestic work and social cost, which would still continue to burden on women's shoulders, that would make the market – at affordable cost! - what we already do at home for free.
