El empleo de dicha palabra es recurrente en todas sus obras, pero encierra acepciones y valores diversos, sin ofrecerse nunca al lector con una definición clara. Es llamativo que el concepto de sutileza aparezca frecuentemente en “Agudeza y arte de ingenio” con un significado equiparable a agudeza, al igual que sorprende el hecho de que en “El Comulgatorio” hallemos solo una referencia. The article –without pretension of exhausting the argument– discusses the concept of “subtlety” in different Works by Gracián, at the same time that explores some of the meanings of the term in previous and contemporary works of the Jesuit. The use of this word is recurrent in all his works, but in contains different meanings and values, without ever offering the reader a clear definition. It is noteworthy that the concept of subtlety appears frequently in “Agudeza y arte de ingenio” whit a meaning comparable to acuity, and equally surprising in the fact we find only one reference in “El Comulgatorio”.
