The effect of carboxanilide systemic fungicide 2-iodobenzanilide (2-IB) on potassium and sulfate uptake, proton extrusion and K+-ATPase of corn roots were studied. 2-IB proved to be able to inhibit ion uptake, proton extrusion and microsomal K+-ATPase without affecting ATP availability thus suggesting that its primary effect is exerted at the level of plasmalemma ATPase which form proton gradient.

Abstract
