The volume belongs to the Corpus dei papiri storici greci e latini, a systematic collection of all papyrus fragments of Greek and Latin historians under the supervision of a scientific committee. The book presents a new critical edition, with transcription, translation and commentary, of ten papyrus fragments which preserve otherwise lost narratives concerning Alexander the Great. All textual problems are carefully investigated; in the commentaries the author expands on the individual textual, historical and linguistic aspects and suggests different interpretative solutions. The volume closes with a chapter which summarizes the conclusions reached, discusses the relevant scholarship on the historiography on Alexander and is very thorough and helpful in locating these fragments in their historical context.
