Abstract

In the literature, many authors have reported cases of unintentional magnet ingestion; the high rate of complicationsreported in many different cases requires early removal of suchobjects. Intestinal perforation, peritonitis, volvulus and intestinalfistula are the most commonly reported secondary complicationsrelated to the ingestion of magnets and are mainly caused by theirlate removal. The authors of the present report studied an interesting case of magnet ingestion incidentally diagnosed during chest X-rays for a suspected relapse of pneumonia.
