This paper presents a brief overview of an experimental research project developed by the authors over the last 10 years. The project investigates contrariety in terms of perceptual experience. The methods and results of the research are not analyzed individually, but rather discussed in generai terms, with respect to some main questions. These questions help to explain and bring together the various observations and studies, thus demonstrating the hypotheses forming the basis of the research project.
