Abstract

LiLa9(SiO4)(6)O-2 (LLS) crystals activated with Er3+ have been grown by the flux growth method. Their apatite structure has been characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The absorption and emission spectra have been measured in the visible and NIR regions. They are affected by a significant inhomogeneous broadening making these crystals interesting active media for tunable solid-state laser operation.
