The counselling teaches the general practitioner the best way to establish a fruitful relationship with each patient. To help achieve this aim, a group of psychologists from Verona has developed a graphical system, called the Verona Medical Classification System, that, together with the recording of each patient's visit, will allow an objective and rapid analysis of the dynamics of the relationship. The usefulness of this system is demonstrated through the presentation of a discussion with a teenager about her menstrual period. It is a subject to be handled in a very delicate and personal way in order not to compromise the patient's trust.
