Lichen planus is a benign cutaneous and mucous disease of unknown aetiology that may have an autoimmune pathogenesis. Lichen planopilaris is a rare and distinctive variety of lichen planus that selectively involves hair follicles and causes scarring alopecia. Lichen planus and its planopilaris variety are frequently associated with autoimmune diseases, such as thymoma, myasthenia gravis and alopecia. We report here the first case of lichen planopilaris associated with autoimmune thyroiditis.
