The types of dyadic and triadic communicative overtures produced by toddlers in triadic peer contexts were analysed as a function of toddlers' age. 6 familiar peers (3 males and 3 females) were videotaped in groups of 3 for 15'every time, longitudinally at 18,21,24,27,30, and 36. Successful communicative overtures were classified according to the number of partners involved, then were coded into categories. Social signs simultaneously directed to two partners were observed among 30-month-toddlers, but their frequency appeared to increase significantly only among 3-years-children. 2 patterns of triadic overtures were found.
