Third Space is not an interstice but a site of resistance where students are able to “give an account of oneself”, formulating their own distinct subjectivities beyond hegemonic narratives. This process of subjectivation is manifested through hybridization, a performative act that challenges predefined categories. The dialogue between these authors is an example of what Gloria Anzaldúa terms “new mestiza consciousness”, a concrete outcome. This consciousness goes beyond a mere border identity but translates into an awareness that develops within Third Space, capable of inhabiting contradictions and drawing strength from them to create new forms of knowledge. The paper concludes that Third Space is not just a theoretical concept, but a practical horizon for an education that promotes the autonomy, resistance, and capacity of students to forge plural identities in a globalized world

Abstract
This paper reframes the pedagogies in the field of cultural diversity by transcending the logic of a “major key” education, which is the transmission of authorized knowledge, in favor of an education “in a minor key” that values processes and relations. Homi Bhabha’s Third Space is reinterpreted as a metaphorical locus of agency and performance. The analysis focuses on how Third Space can address key features of a pedagogy that is not based on the reproduction of canonical knowledge, but on its co-creation through the active participation of students. Third Space is not an interstice but a site of resistance where students are able to “give an account of oneself”, formulating their own distinct subjectivities beyond hegemonic narratives. This process of subjectivation is manifested through hybridization, a performative act that challenges predefined categories. In this context, hybridization is not a simple fusion, but a “creolization”, a process that celebrates opacity and complexity, refusing the obligation of transparency. The paper concludes that Third Space is not just a theoretical concept, but a practical horizon for an education that promotes the autonomy, resistance, and capacity of students to forge plural identities in a globalized world| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
