As laboratory instrumentation becomes increasingly integrated, automated, and manufacturer-controlled, preserving an independent element within internal quality control (IQC) strategies becomes increasingly important. Independent IQC is not merely an additional control material, but an essential component of objective analytical verification. By providing assurance that is independent of the analytical system itself, third-party IQC strengthens confidence in patient results and supports the laboratory’s responsibility to fulfill both the requirements and the intent of ISO 15189:2022.

Abstract

As laboratory instrumentation becomes increasingly integrated, automated, and manufacturer-controlled, preserving an independent element within internal quality control (IQC) strategies becomes increasingly important. Independent IQC is not merely an additional control material, but an essential component of objective analytical verification. By providing assurance that is independent of the analytical system itself, third-party IQC strengthens confidence in patient results and supports the laboratory’s responsibility to fulfill both the requirements and the intent of ISO 15189:2022.
