The observed inverse trend observed between albumin and PT provides a reliable biochemical explanation that the age-related prolongation of PT in the elderly may be a genuine physiological consequence of a gradually decreasing liver function, further strengthening our recommendation to locally evaluate, verify or adopt age-stratified reference intervals for PT, especially in patients older than 80 years, to improve diagnostic specificity in clinical practice.

Abstract
The observed inverse trend observed between albumin and PT provides a reliable biochemical explanation that the age-related prolongation of PT in the elderly may be a genuine physiological consequence of a gradually decreasing liver function, further strengthening our recommendation to locally evaluate, verify or adopt age-stratified reference intervals for PT, especially in patients older than 80 years, to improve diagnostic specificity in clinical practice.File in questo prodotto:
